Ballet Austin
Presents Don Quixote
May 9-10, 8:00 p.m.
May 11, 3:00 p.m.
$25-$75
The Long Center for
the Performing Arts

|
One masterpiece deserves another. Appropriately,
Ballet Austin closes its 51st season, Dreams… Realized, with its inaugural
performance at Joe R. and Terry Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts
as a Founding Resident Company. First performed for Russian royalty in 1869
by the “father of classical ballet,” Marius Petipa, Ballet Austin's
exquisite sets and costumes heighten the excitement, humor and beauty of
this historic masterpiece.
Based on one of the most influential works of modern literature, Don Quixote
is a production worthy of Ballet Austin's long-awaited, first performance at
the Long Center—itself a momentous moment for the company and the arts in
Central Texas. The grand story of the famed dreamer from La Mancha gallops
onto The Long Center’s Michael and Susan Dell Hall stage Mother's Day
weekend as Ballet Austin presents artistic director Stephen Mills’
interpretation of 17th century Spanish classic. Austin is invited to join
Ballet Austin as the dream of the Long Center is realized!

According to research
recently published by Texas A&M University, beef brisket – the
tastiest cut of meat around – is actually good for you. Stacy Turk, a
Texas A&M graduate student, says research shows that brisket is the
healthiest part of the cow and the point section – better known to
bar-b-q lovers as Rudy’s Extra Moist – is where most of the beneficial
fat can be found in tiny “reservoirs.” |
K&N Management, operators of the Rudy’s Country
Store and Bar-B-Q franchise restaurants in Austin, are encouraging
Austinites to eat more brisket. Rudy’s knows that no matter how you slice
it, brisket satisfies any appetite every time. Now there’s some scientific
research that proves beef brisket is as healthy as it is delicious. Rudy’s
is celebrating that news with an official Long Live Brisket Day on May 14.
In celebration of this mouthwatering news, Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q
is proving there is such a thing as a free lunch. On May 14, from 2 – 4
p.m., all hungry, health-conscious guests visiting one of the four
Austin-area Rudy’s locations will receive a complimentary quarter pound
of wholesome smoked beef brisket. It’s Rudy’s way of saying long live
delicious, moist, healthy brisket!
Visit any of the four Austin Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q at 11570
Research Blvd., 2451 Capital of Texas Highway, 2400 North IH-35, or 7709 FM

voting districts that may change the way your voice is heard!
Since 1953 Austin City Council has operated under an At-Large voting system,
meaning that all members are chosen to represent the City of Austin as a
whole. Recent proposals seek to amend this voting system to Single Member
Districts where each member is voted within and represents his/her voting
district only. This major change has sparked debate among the citizens of
Austin. Come voice your opinion on the benefits and challenges of the
proposed change.
